Message from The District Governor

Dear fellow Rotarians, Spouses, and Friends,

john The district conference is an important annual event in the district calendar. It celebrates the successful culmination of a year long hive of club and district activities, service projects, and Foundation giving, including intensive district-wide fundraising for the End Polio Now campaign. Fellowship being the first among five equal core values, the district conference is an excellent venue for networking and engaging with the most senior leaders to the newest club members. The Family of Rotary and friends are welcome to enjoy the camaraderie in a convivial atmosphere.

This year we have joined forces with the five Rotary districts of Thailand in the Multi-Districts 3310, 3330, 3340, 3350, and 3360 Conference, Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Center, Bangkok, 12-14 May 2017. For the first time in our district’s history we won’t have a Rotary International President’s Representative because Rotary International President John F. Germ himself is coming to our conference! President John Germ will present inspirational addresses on the importance of membership, club flexibility as passed at the 2016 Council on Legislation, diversity and support of The Rotary Foundation, including the Annual Fund and the PolioPlus Fund. He’ll also be celebrating The Rotary Foundation Centennial with us, a rare honor and privilege that will be the envy of many districts around the world.

We’ve also invited renowned motivational speaker, specialist trainer, and leadership coach, Michael Angelo Caruso ( of USA to deliver inspiring addresses during the conference plenary sessions on 13 and 14 May. He also happens to be my classmate and governor of District 6380. He describes himself as a “lifetime Rotarian” with Rotary Club of Troy, Michigan, his home club. He will speak on young Rotarians and changes in the new Rotary after the 2016 Council on Legislation, the boldest and most innovative in Rotary history. Michael Angelo Caruso will also be the keynote speaker and trainer at our annual District Leadership Seminar on Friday afternoon, 12 May. He will give expert coaching on effective leadership and lead a panel discussion on Rotary’s Avenues of Service in his unique, inimitable style. Check out the program details.

Despite the Malaysian Ringgit losing exchange value against the Thai Baht, we have decided to charge registration fees in Malaysian Ringgit instead of Thai Baht. By doing this we’re taking quite considerable risks to keep costs down for our members. I hope Rotarians, their spouses, and the Family of Rotary will register in droves to take advantage of the low registration fees and the attractive conference program, District Leadership Seminar, and spouse program. We’ve also negotiated the best room rates for you: at Avana Bangkok Hotel, which is a mere five-minute walk to BITEC, the conference venue. At 1,200 Baht (net) for a deluxe room and 1,700 Baht (net) for a deluxe suite, inclusive of breakfast for two, the prices are a steal.

Together with our conscientious and meticulous Thai organizers, we’ve taken all possible care and due diligence to provide an amazing and memorable experience for all participants. Bring your Rotary fellowship to the next level: rub shoulders with senior and grassroots Rotarians from Thailand and our district. Because we have the honor and privilege of having President John Germ with us, Rotarians from many countries will be joining us at the conference: Bangladesh, Indonesia, Taiwan, to name just a few. Don’t delay, register now, and book your air tickets early for the most economical rates. You’ll have the time of your life at the forthcoming Multi-District Conference.
