Project/Event Time: 8 am on 5 Nov and 2 pm on 12 Nov
Venue/ Location: Mt Tambuyukon, Mt Trus Madi and Mt Kinabalu, the three highest Borneo Mountains
The Rotary Club of Kota Kinabalu organized the Three Mountain Charity Climb to raise funds to aid poor cataract patients that require surgery. The ten member team led by President Dr Ravi Mandalam consisted of Rotarians, doctors, nurse, NGO activist and park rangers.
The list of participants:
Chuah Uei Chyi
Liaw Yun Haw
Sikunda Poitok Anggau
Ng Hin Seng
Helen Benedict Lasimbang
Kolathu Ravi Mandalam (President Rotary Club of Kota Kinabalu)
Rossiti Maineh Karim
All ten climbers successfully reached the summits of all three big mountains of Sabah, also of Borneo, Malaysia and South East Asia, namely, Mt Tambuyukon (2579 m) on Nov 5-8, Mt Trusmadi (2642 m) on Nov 9-10 and Mt Kinabalu (4095 m) on Nov 11-12.
This is perhaps the first time such a back to back climb has been done, of these three mountains – if proved so, it would indeed be a record of sorts.
Rotary Club of Kota Kinabalu is truly grateful to all well-wishers, generous sponsors for our charity cause and members of the press for their support. Readers that wish to contribute to our Three Mountain Charity Fund may do so by cheque or online transfer to the Rotary Club of Kota Kinabalu in its account at the CIMB Bank
